After Melissa and Jason wed in July of 2008, they moved to Charlotte. Jason contacted me last week and said that they would be up visiting and if I had any time that he would like me to do a belly session since Melissa is about 8 months pregnant. I was so happy to hear the news that I had to figure out a way to make this work. Here are a few teasers of what we did. So happy for them, now I have to figure out a way to visit them in September to do a newborn session.

An amazing couple...Kit lost her vision a few years ago when she was diagnosed with an extremely rare condition. Rich has been legally blind since birth. This has not stopped them from doing anything. Kit is scuba certified and Rich does Judo and is also a photographer.

Forgive me for I have not posted anything here in about four months. Always busy, I have taken a easier route by just uploaded images to Facebook.

So I thought I would start off with this post. I try and keep this blog to only what is going on with the studio, but I have to take a moment on this one to salute the happiest man in the world right now...

After almost 50 years of working for the same company - HR called him in last week and gave him his walking papers. You might think that it is a bad thing, maybe even cry age discrimination BUT WAIT! After starting out working in a gas station he was discovered by the boss (first of many) of the company he would spend just about a half century with. He was hired to take care of the equipment, warehouse it, make emergency repairs on location and just about anything he could do for the company.

Well, through the years the company had been sold many times and he stayed on - same day different boss. He had been thinking about retiring but needed that push and he finally got it. So here is to my Dad - Congratulations, you have earned it - now it is time to enjoy.

Caitlin and Rich are married! These two were a blast to photograph. We have a ton of images to go through and I had to cut my images down for this post. Can't say it enough that I love what I do and when I have clients like Caitlin and Rich it is just icing on the cake. Very happy with Dad's first look sequence - whenever Caitlin or her sister Tara were dressed up, they would come down the steps while Dad waited in the kitchen to show off their dress. The whole day was full of emotion and laughter.

Alyssa and Nate were wed on the rocks behind The Inn at St. Peters Village. Very intimate and unique, this was one of my favorites this year as I managed not to fall into French Creek during and after the ceremony.

I love Friday weddings and this one was another favorite at Columbia Station. Girls were pampered at Keira's parents home while the guys got ready at the hotel. Then we met for the first look and off to the ceremony and reception. Patrick is a carpenter and they made the bestest ring bearer's "pillow" - actually it is a tool box. Well Chelsea met Jason in a youth bowling league, so it was only natural that we did some photos at the same lanes they met. The weather has been dreary around here, but when we were finishing up, the sun came out. So we went to another location quickly before the weather turned again.

What a great day for Jessica and Matt to be wed. Outside ceremony at Spring Mill Manor, a little bit of a breeze blowing with family and friends to celebrate. Jessica's parents surprised everyone with a pipe band and Jessica surprised Matt with a groom's cake in the shape of a rugby ball. Miami provided the soundtrack and had everyone on the floor. What a great day for Jessica and Matt to be wed!

Adam runs SoundFactor Entertainment and it was nice to be selected as their photographer since he sees a different photographer at every event. Reverend Pamela Brehm officiated the event outside in the early evening and that kicked off the party that went late into the night with DJ Gaetano.

I started out doing sports mainly with one customer in mind. A client would hire me to photograph his/her child during one of the games. I love it when a child lets his/her emotions go and enjoy the moment. Many kids are taught sportsmanship and are told to refrain from big time displays but as you see in the last three photos from last weeks tourney, this guy that scored the winning goal in the championship game with seconds left let it all out. I photo'd about 12 clicks from shot to pile on and saw the jem on the last one.

Suddenly Seymour July 4th

That is the song that has been playing in my head since Sunday. Liz and Chris got married on July Fourth. This was no ordinary wedding by no means. Liz and Chris met while doing a production at The Players Club of Swarthmore. So it was only fit that they had their ceremony on stage under the bright lights. The reception was filled with songs performed by Liz, Chris, Liz's Father Charles and friends of the couple. The day could not be complete without fireworks.

The day has finally arrived. I met Melissa and Jimmy last August while Jimmy was on leave from the Army and they had two weeks to visit with all the wedding vendors and make a decision on which to hire. Well it was fast, your hired and now lets go take some engagement photos before Jimmy leaves. They met in high school eight years ago and had a beautiful wedding. I took along my infra-red camera and gave it to Megan to work at the park. Yes, Megan worked her first wedding with Eric and I and I am very happy with the results.

Reception was at the Allentown Brew Works and I think the party is still going.

Giselle is now Three

Giselle is a free spirit. She is just an awesome little girl that reminds me of my daughter at three. Well - even at ten. When Giselle started talking, she hasn't stopped - just like my Alyssa. We arrived at the park and get out of the car, Giselle walked over to me and grabbed my hand and we walked across the parking lot. I'm thinking she is going to do whatever I ask her to do this year. Nope, I was wrong as you will see in the first image as she is running quickly away from me. So we played a little trying to get her into position and see if I can get a smile out of her and other times we just let her be herself and flap her wings, pick flowers and run from bees. This year, Giselle became a big sister to Rolf. But it seems that Rolf is a night owl and couldn't be bothered with me and my camera.

Meet Megan

Big week last week as Dlutz Photo just added another photographer to the mix. She is Megan and will be on as an apprentice for a little bit and hopefully a full fledged second photographer by the end of the year. I really didn't expect this as it was a little out of the blue. I received an email from an old friend telling me that her daughter was very interested in photography and if I could talk to her about education and a way to learn more about the field. I said sure and that I would consider her to shadow me on a wedding to see how things went. Then I saw her images and that was the deal breaker. I hate using this term because I feel it is used way to much about photography BUT "She has an eye". So I had to meet her and see what she was all about. Well, she has the passion too.

More to come about Megan as she starts her journey and I am sure it won't be to long before she is out and doing this on her own. But for now, hand me the fisheye, carry that bag and more coffee...

Megan's good friend Jess came out today so that Megan can get familiar with my cameras. She put up with bugs swarming while Megan made some awesome images like this one.

Maddie and Ashley's Communion

The Phoenixville Foundry

The Foundry hosted a monster event and Stephanie at Robert Ryan Catering asked me to photograph all the tasty treats and this awesome place. The Foundry is what is left of Phoenix Steel and it was renovated into a huge event space that still contains original items from the foundry when it was in operation. Bridal Expo

Not a fan of Bridal Expo's, but I still do one a year or so. Yesterday was Sunnybrook's Bridal Expo and I like to do this one because it is local and I want to support my town as much as I can. Since I have a hard time bragging about my work, I enlisted one bride and two soon to be brides to talk to anyone that approached them about their experience with me - Dlutz Photography. POW! Didn't take long for Mary to go to work, she reeled the first bride to be in from about 15 feet from the table. Showing off her guest book for the engagement session and how she actually booked all her vendors from last year's show at this expo - so she recommended Baird's Catering and Soundfactor Entertainment who coincidentally were next to me. Then Caitlin started up showing off her engagement monster print that I made for her and soon my table was packed. I actually thought I saw Elvis swing by to take a look at one of my books. Then I saw Amber, another bride to be for me in September came by to say hi and she sent a few of her friends over to the table as she walked around. Honestly, I could have gone home and watched the Gold Medal Hockey game, these lovely ladies had everything under control. Then Heather arrived and I felt bad for the next peron as now there were three of my Angels swarming. So I have to say a BIG THANKS to Mary, Caitlin, Heather and Amber for talking me up - LOVE IT! Also thanks to Andrew, Kyran, Rich and John. Can't say it enough that I have been so lucky to have such awesome people to photograph.

Busy February

Forte Families

Confession time: Below are the kids, (adults now) that if I had ever needed children to fill an assignment. I would go over to the Forte house and borrow the kids to complete. If it was sports - they would play street hockey or throw a ball around and I would photograph. If it was portraiture, bang - found a tree and done. Here are the children that taught me that children portraiture should be fun. Anthony would do whatever you asked. Joe would be the one that would say "Hey Ron, take a picture of me jumping out of the tree". And Kathy was always the Diva even as a little girl. So the first picture is "Old School" for memories. But now they have kids of their own, so the cycle (and all that Lion King stuff) continues.

Nancy was in a wedding a few years ago that I photographed, received a referral from someone else, checked out my website and saw her friend, (the Bride from the wedding she was in) and contacted me right away. It is great when you get to photograph the growth of a family. This is the third year for Joey and second for Brianna, and I photographed their parents wedding.
