Morgan's Softball Game

I took my camera along to watch Morgan playing softball for her high school. This is my favorite, it shows her acrobatic agility as she leaped to catch this high pitch. The ump didn't even move as fast as Mo. Last time I saw her jump like this, Alyssa ran off with the remote for the TV.

Back to School

Today.....Got an early start to the day, Alyssa greeted us with a good morning, Mom braided her hair and off to the first day of 3rd Grade, as you can see Alyssa and her messenger bag were all ready to take on the new school year. She was very excited and walked into school with Daddy, giving him a kiss, hug and a bye, kinda miss those days where they clinged onto you, those days are done.

Morgan was off too a nice start this morning, she got HERSELF up, no Mom and Dad screaming at her to get up. She was all coordinated and wanted to leave for school at 7:30 a.m., a 1/2 hour earlier than she needs to be there. Morgan is entering High School today, still chokes me up that my daugther will be graduating in 4 years and talking about going to Arizona State, yes Uncle Mike watch out. Morgan walked into her new school like it was nothing and like she had been doing it forever, she definately doesn't have the nervousness like her Mom. Pray that Evelyn and I make it through the next 4 years.

Dlutz tradition is too stand on the front porch steps, first day of school for each year, Alyssa is all about getting her picture taken, her new uniform and messenger bag (no book bags) in place. Morgan again, not into any of this lame stuff that we do.

Cameras

I wanted to do this for a long time and finally while looking for and doing something else, I was sidetracked for a little bit. I pulled out my old cameras and took some photos of them. There are many more cameras in the warehouse, and a few important cameras were not included in this post because it would be very long. Bringing this altogether, I ran into a few people this weekend that wanted to discuss "real" cameras. First I met a gentleman at the wedding I was shooting. His name is Horst, and we had discussed the glory days of film. Then I ran into the Cheltenham Camera Club while I was doing a Family Session. Honestly, if you just got a new camera - digital or film, I would suggest checking into a local photo club to help get the most out of your camera. They offer photo outings, competitions and support. Here are a few photos of a few of my cameras.

Do not read any further if you have just eaten, have a medical condition, a bad back, or just don't want to read about a grown man's obsession with his material possessions that he still keeps locked up in the closet so his wife doesn't include in a yard sale.


This is my first Hasselblad. I can still remember the day I first got it - the weather outside, the smell of the place I bought it and how excited I was to run my first roll of film through it and squeeze the shutter to hear that loud KACHUNK as the mirror flopped up out of the way.

Here is my Dad's Yashica 12 Twin Lens Reflex, that I guess you can say I'm still borrowing.

This is my Canon T70 that I received from my parents as a graduation gift from high school.

Here is the Nikon N90s, my first auto focus camera. Auto focus was not something for the true photographer, I would never get one of those. Then came Morgan, I couldn't get a single in focus photo of her cause she was always running around. So, I resorted to auto focus - yep, and I never looked back.

Now we are cooking, the mighty F5. This beast is the most amazing 35mm film slr I have ever used. My friend Anthony made the mistake of letting me shoot his. I didn't want to give it back - but I did and went and bought this one.

And last but not least, the Crown Graphic. This camera Anthony Barbacane let me keep. It is his Dad's old wedding camera. I can't imagine using one of these to shoot a wedding. This camera uses a 4 x 5 piece of film, that yields an awesome detailed image of your subject.
So, if you hung around, thank you for following me down memory lane. And if you didn't - you were probably better off. By the way, all the photos above were taken with the Nikon D3 - yes it is digital and even though I do miss the days of film and I still like to shoot film - I don't think I could ever go back 100%, but never say never.

Alyssa's First Soccer game

My BEAUTIFUL wife is having a Big Birthday today. I have a surprise for her today and I can write it here because she never looks here. Well, maybe, just incase she does - I'll post it later after I bring it home. I hope the kids will help take care of it.

Ev's brother came in from Phoenix for her birthday. It was fun, but I couldn't share my secret with my best friend. Even when his plane was late and she was getting ticked off.

Barth Vendor Night

A big Thank You to all that came out and supported the kids of Barth Elementary Thursday night. All the proceeds go to the 5th Grade Class trip, they did very well with the Bake Sale. Congratulations to the Mora Family for winning the Portrait session with me - it is the best prize, (in my opinion).

Is Fall Finally Here?

I looked out the kitchen window before I made my daily walk to the bustop and noticed some reds in the trees out back. So I took along the ol' Nikon to meet Alyssa down the street. Here are a few of my favorites. Fall and Winter are the best seasons to me. Evelyn has a problem with it, but I like the cold.

Barth Vendor Night

Dlutz Photography, Inc will be at Barth Elementary School in Pottstown, Thursday November 15th from 6 til 8pm. I will be there with other local vendors showing our wares, (is that right). There will be door prizes and also - portions of sales that evening go to the Barth PTO to support the students for field trips and other events. I have a bunch of fresh Family and Children samples that I am excited to display. So come on out and say Hi, start your holiday shopping and support the children of Barth Elementary.

E A G L E S !

Monday night football, home opener, Eagles vs the Redskins - Eagles favored by 3, oh well. My friend Josh took me to the game for my birthday. Our adventure started with a 12:30 meet time in the parking lot of Ply Meeting mall. Thats when Scott was coming by to pick us up in the RV. Scott has a nice RV about 30 feet long - not one that you can land aircraft on but almost. We got down there about 1:30 and had everything set up and the grill started by 2:00.
This was two firsts for me - tailgating and a game at the new field. I have never been to a regular Sunday game, only two Monday night games at the Vet - so keeping with tradition, put another Monday under the belt. I had a great time - food was great and the day was awesome. Josh's seats are on the 30 yardline seven rows back so we're on top of the action. Best part was when Phil a face painted guy three rows behind us won Fan of the Game and Swoop stopped by - I was laughing so hard that I missed the photo op, as Josh did his Great Wallenda act across the tops of the seats to get in frame for the TV camera in front of Swoop.
Doesn't get any better then this.

Don't want to gross anyone out, but I found this guy while trimming the bushes today. Thinking of making a business card out of it - if I can make this guy look good - . Maybe not.

Mothers Day

Sunday was Mother's Day. Here are a few of Mothers in my life. My Mom, Mutti, my Sister and my Bride - Evelyn.
We started off the day with the presenting of the cards and gifts. Then stopped to visit with my Mom and after that - headed to Ocean City, NJ. Spent some time walking the boards and then some lunch.

Guys and Dolls

Morgan is in the High School Musical, Guys and Dolls. This is great for her, she has so much fun doing this and the whole cast works hard putting this together. The teachers and staff that put the show on every two years are dedicated and their efforts show through the kids as they put on a top notch performance. Two years ago it was South Pacific and that show was FABULOUS! Can't wait to see this one. Show times are 7:30 Friday and Saturday. There is also a show on Sunday at 1.
Morgan's part is a Hotbox Dancer, she has her moves down and the songs memorized. Here a few photos from one of the dress rehearsals.
